Tom DeLay knows who's to blame for the Iraq War

Tom DeLay isn't in the slammer yet.  And he knows who he blames for the mess in Iraq.  It shouldn't come as any surprise.

Eric Kleefeld reports in  Tom DeLay: Blame Americans First TPM Cafe 12/12/06:

Here's another major Republican name who blames Americans first for the problems in Iraq - and will explain why. Tom DeLay, appearing on Hannity and Colmes last night to promote his new on-and-off blog, took square aim at the real culprits for problems in the war in Iraq. "It's the fault of the liberals and the media and the Democrats, that from the very beginning have tried to undermine the will of the American people to fight this," DeLay said.  (my emphasis)

Apparently true-believer war fans are intent on repeating this mantra until their dying day.

But while the war is going on, that excuse gets more and more complicated all the time.  Not least because President Bush has been saying, over and over and over again, that he has given the military everything they've asked for in the war.  He's letting them pick the targets and the military strategy.  And if they need something more, all they have to do is ask.

And the chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff have backed him up.  So does Tommy Franks, the original commander of the Iraq War.  And the generals tell us over and over and over again that we're winning battle after battle, liberating city after city and neighborhood after neighborhood, even that we haven't lost a battle yet!  Check out the CENTCOM Web site where never is heard a discouraging word.

So, what's the deal, Republicans?  Are Bush and our infallible generals just bald-faced, butt-ugly lying to us?  Or is everything going wonderfully in Iraq so that we can look forward to four more years of winning and winning and winning?
