Chuckie Watch 59: Chuckie gits a "far left" letter

Chuckie gits letters.  He publishes a few of them, without even an e-mail address.  He gits letters from soldiers, he says, and they happen to sound pretty much just like Chuckie.

Most of  the letters to his Soapbox forum that are reproduced on his Web site are like this one from 07/17/04:  "Thank you so much for standing up for the truth of what is happening over there and here in America. I sent your email to everyone in my address book."  I'm sure those in this person's address book were overjoyed to see that.  Whichever one it was.  Chuckie's wisdom is far-reaching.

But Chuckie says he got a "far left" letter that reminds him of The Problem (07/26/04) with folks like that.  Now, to borrow a line from Lyndon Johnson, Chuckie wouldn't know a communist if one came up and bit him on the leg.  "Far left" to Chuckie would pretty much include anyone who isn't a practicing fundamentalist Christian or why disagreed with, say, the criminal and sadistic torture of prisoners in the Abu Ghuraib.

But this "letter" from a far leftist (Chuckie version) gives Chuckie a chance to expound on his world view.  He seems to think that people in small towns and Georgia and those hanging out at truck stops are on his side.  Chuckie may not realize that a lot of the National Guard and reserve members who have been called up for one and two years of service, and have been treated pretty shabbily by having their tours extended in Bush's "back-door draft," come from small Southern town.  But even if he did, I doubt Chuckie would let that spoil a good rant.

I wonder if Chuckie knows about Hinesville, Georgia? A Shrinking Base: Support for War Wanes Among Military Families Facing Redeployment Washington Post 07/21/04.

You see the problem with you people [i.e., "far leftist" that don't agree with Chuckie] is that you’re long on ideas but short on action. You actually think that if we leave the terrorists alone they’ll leave us alone. You think that the murder of an innocent unborn baby is perfectly fine but that capitol punishment is cruel. Youthink that public pornography is a constitutional right but that public display of the Ten Commandments is not. You actually believe that the United States should give our sovereignty over to the United Nations and let them meddle in our domestic affairs.

Give me oldJohn working in a tobacco field down in Bladen County, North Carolina.

He knows that no matter what we do the only terrorist that will ever leave us alone is a dead terrorist.

I doubt that of the 1% or so of the US population that make their living directly from agriculture these days, anything close to 100% of them agree with Chuckie's buddy "John" about the Iraq War, terrorism, or the need to have the government ram the Christian religion down other people's throat.  Heck, even ole "John" might have a look at a Playboy every now and then!  (For the articles, I mean.)

I wish all those good ole boys like Chuckie who supposedly care about fighting terrorists had been a little less enthusiastic for invading and occupying Iraq, which has only made the anti-American terrorism problem worse.  But Chuckie don't listen to no nonsense like that.  His pal "John" and Fox News and an occasional dose of Oxycontin radio is all Chuckie needs to know what's happening in the world.

I'll even indulge in a little pop psychology and speculate that ole Chuckie may be indulging in a bit of projection in his description of the "far left":

Now you see, that’s the trouble with you people on the far left. You don’t care about what anybody who doesn’t agree with you thinks. You think that everybody besides you and your like minded buddies are completely unable to render a logical decision on world affairs and that such weighty matters should be left to you and your ilk.
