John Kerry Finishes Off Edwards
is the headline in the Los Angeles Times' online story.
Now he can concentrate on the campaign against Bush and his disastrous foreign policy in Iraq, his neglect of critical anti-terrorism priorites, the job-loss recovery and the Bush brand of crony capitalism as exemplified by Enron and Halliburton. And he can focus on holding Bush accountable for the phony claims on WMDs, for the criminal exposure of Valerie Plame as an undercover CIA agent and for his pitiful unwillingness to cooperate with the 9/11 Commission.
Bush's campaign so far looks to be terrorism, terrorism, be very afraid, terrorism, gay marriage, hippies protesting the Vietnam War, "Massachusetts liberal" and all the dirt the Republican sleaze machine can manufacture. Not only does the Bush crowd think they have the divine right to rule, having taken power the last time despite the election results. But if a real Attorney General takes office next January and starts looking at the Plame exposure, Halliburton contracts, and some of the messy details of the Bush wars, the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld crew may have a lot more to worry about than simple embarrassment.
Bush's political guru Karl Rove has already predicted a very nasty campaign. I think we can take him at his word.

Yeah, I don't think Karl would lie about something like that...
