¿Espías venezolanas en la Casa Blanca estadounidense?

If this AP story on AOL News is to be believed, Venzuelan President Hugo Chávez claims he has informants in the White House that keep him posted on plots against him by the Cheney-Bush administration:  Hugo Chávez dice que tiene informantes en la Casa Blanca 01.10.06.

They have several quotes from Chávez saying that, so apparently he did make that claim.

Now, you don't have to be a CIA agent or even a fan of spy novels to think that if Venezuela really did have spies or clandestine collaborators in the Cheney-Bush administration that Chávez would be very unlikely to announce the fact publicly.  Cheney and Bush and the US oil companies might not like him.  But he's no dummy.

It's more like that Chávez can see how the Republicans in America have developed a definite tendency to wet themselves with panic over any sign of The Enemy doing something they don't know about.

Of course, there's no good reason for the US to be considering Venzuela or the Chávez government an enemy.  But the Cheney-Bush project is all about creating as many enemies as we can to justify a permanent national security state and endless generous contracts to Halliburton and other military contractors.
