The mystery of the Blue Voice

There's starting to be quite a bit of buzz about the new group blog opening its doors tomorrow called The Blue Voice.

Okay, so most of the buzz so far is from those of us who are participants in it.  But so what?  I'm a firm believer in the motto of labor leader John L. Lewis:  "He that tooteth not his own horn, the same shall not be tooted."

I would have a hard time surpassing the descriptions already posted by some of my fellow Blue Voicers:

Marcia Ellen: Life As It Ought To Be
Marigolds2: the windmills of my mind
Dave: Random Thoughts from a Progressive Mind

And one from today, a joint production of Marcia Ellen and TankGurl: The Blue Voice.

No, despite rumors to the contrary, it's not a blog about blues music.  Or about antidepressants.  It's a political blog that will cover a variety of subjects.  Don't expect to find an awful lot of praise for the Republican Party there.

Some of the other Blue Voices are discontinuing their AOL Journals or putting them on hold.  All of us had to set up blogs on Blogspot to be able to participate in the group blog, and some of the others are using theirs actively.  But I'm going to keep Old Hickory's Weblog here at AOL as my main personal blog, with my Blogspot blog of the same name inactive for now.

The Blue Voice is another addition to the growing trend of group blogs.  It's the cyber-equivalent of '60s communes.  Even Jerry Brown has closed down his warehouse commune and moved in with his girl friend, whom he plans to marry soon (scroll to the bottom).  The physical-world communes are being supplanted by cyber-communes.  With these, you don't have to argue about who's paying the rent.

But we do have to give credit to our teammates.  Everyone has contributed actively in working on the start-up. But Muse nLA has done some heavy lifting on HTML matters, Marcia Ellen on links and Fdtate714 on clandestine special projects.

So join us at The Blue Voice starting Monday!  It'll be more fun than Shakira's latest video!  Good Lord, what am I saying?  Well, nobody's going to believe that one, I know.  (AOL members can see that video here by the way:  Shakira's La Tortura Video).

But it's going to be really, really good.  So stop by and take a look.  Put on the new Shakira CD, click over to The Blue Voice and see what you think!
