April is Confederate "Heritage" Month

Yes, April is the month that the neo-Confederate groups celebrate as Confederate Heritage Month. No, this is not an April Fools joke.

The Okaloosa (FL) NAACP has a page that provides a counter-commemoration for every day of the month, talking aspect of the real history of the Confederacy, slavery and the Lost Cause mythology. Unfortunately, their site has been down for several days.  So I'm providing a link here to a version cached on Yahoo!: Confederate Heritage Month.

I'm planning to post comments during April using material from that site. If their live site comes back online, I'll link to it. Otherwise, I'll link back to this post, because the address on the cached version probably takes up about half the 2500-character limit by itself.
