Iraq War: The West Case (pt. 1 of 2)

Earlier today I mentioned the case of Lt. Col. Allen B. West, who is being charged in a court martial with criminal assault over interrogation tactics involving an Iraqi suspect

When I spent a few minutes searching for news articles on the subject, the only ones I've been able to find are from the conservative Washington Times, whose detractors sometimes call it the Moonie Times because it's owned by the Unification Church cult.  I also found a Fox News report of 11/07/03 that summarized the information.

Here are some of the news sources I found:

Army files charge in combat [sic] tactic (Washington Times 10/29/03)

Accused Army officer gets support (Washington Times 10/30/03)

Debate Sparked by Lt. Col.'s Interrogation Tactic (Fox News 11/07/03)

Judging from the number of reference to rightwing, Freeper-type Web sites, this guy is not "sort of" a hero, as I said in my first post on him, but a fondly admired hero.

The fact that reports in the mainstream press aren't so easy to come by could be evidence of a Liberal Media Conspiracy. Or it could be that journalists operating by mainstream standards couldn't get enough independently-confirmed information to report the story. The information in the Washington Times about the incident in question apparently all comes from the defendant himself.
