Deadeye Dick's trials and tribulations

Actually, the story of Cheney blasting a guy in the face with a shotgun doesn't seem quite as amenable to being made into jokes today after we learn that the 78-tear-old had to have an operation because one of the shotgun pellets lodged in his heart, inducing a heart attack.

I've been posting about this over at The Blue Voice.  Steve Gilliard has been focusing on the shooting incident at his News Blog, as in this post: It's really simple 02/14/06. He writes:

The Vice President shot a 78 year old man in the face.

And has neither publicly apologized or explained his actions.

I know the Bush apologists will say this is no big deal, but the Vice President of the United States, through either inattention or some other factor, wounded a private citizen.

Yet, he has not explained anything about this, from the delay in moving his victim from the ranch to a hospital, where he landed in ICU.

That's a pretty good description of the problem.  This report by Mike Allen on Time's Web site says that the media strategy on this was Cheney's.  Since he's been at the center of pretty much every disaster of this administration, that's not surprising: Slow Leak: How Cheney Stalled News Reports of Hunting Accident 02/13/06.
