Neil Purcell on the Iraq War

Neil Purcell, who frequently comments here, recently had a letter published at New Republic Online:  Reality Check.  It's in response to the article by Peter Beinart that has touched off considerable discussion about the Democratic Party's position on the so-called war on terror.

And, wisely apply one of my favorite maxims from John L. Lewis, "He who toots not his own horn, the same shall not be tooted," also posted the text on his (AOL-J) blog: The New Republic 12/08/04.  He says of the Iraq War:

Our war is against the religious fanatics who have formed terrorist groups in order to attack us. Saddam Hussein's regime was virulently anti-religious and had not been implicated in terrorism since 1993. It truly is the wrong war, wrong time, wrong place--and eventually Americans will understand the war in these terms as today we understand Vietnam.
